About
I'm Mubarak Abubakar. I make complex software simple to use.
I'm a Senior Product Designer with 5+ years of experience designing B2B, B2C, and enterprise products across logistics, fintech, e-commerce, SaaS, and AI. I turn complex workflows into intuitive products people can use with confidence.
I work end-to-end from research and product flows to UI, design systems, prototyping, and QA, collaborating closely with product teams and engineers. I use AI to accelerate research, exploration, and prototyping, while keeping the product thinking and decisions human-led.
I also build and ship my own products, taking ideas from Figma to working software. It's given me a stronger understanding of systems, technical constraints, and how design decisions translate into what engineers actually build.
Outside work, you'll usually find me watching football, documentaries, or writing about product and technology.
I'm based in Lagos, Nigeria, work remotely, and I'm open to Senior Product Designer opportunities.

Why product teams hire me
Strengths- 01
Range
I move between dense enterprise tools and simple consumer apps without a running start. Same designer, B2B and B2C.
- 02
Systems, not just screens
I own design systems across whole product suites, so teams stay consistent and ship faster.
- 03
Shipped work
The products I design are live and used every day: a marketplace launch, dashboards run by operations teams, and two apps I built and released myself.
- 04
Measured outcomes
Support tickets down 55% at Sendbox and 50% at Shipbubble. Handoff revisions down 50% at Codeware. Delivery processing time down 45%.
- 05
Easy to build with
I stay close to product and engineering from the first sketch to QA, using AI to speed up the process where it adds value.
How I run a design project
Process- 01
Understand
I talk to users and the team, map the flow that exists today, and agree what a good outcome looks like before drawing anything.
- 02
Frame
I turn the mess into information architecture and user flows, so the structure is settled before the UI.
- 03
Design
Wireframes through to high-fidelity screens, built from a component library so the whole product stays consistent.
- 04
Validate
Interactive prototypes and usability tests. I fix what breaks here, while it is still cheap to change.
- 05
Ship
A clean handoff, pairing with engineers through the build, and design QA against the real thing.
Where I've worked
ExperienceDREEF · Senior Product Designer
I lead a team of three designers on internal platforms that automate business processes. I designed a clean-energy financing dashboard and a CRM that tracks project pipelines across renewable energy, manufacturing, healthcare, housing and transport. I set design strategy with product and engineering leads, own the cross-platform design system, and mentor through critique and pairing.
Shipbubble · Product Designer
Sole designer on AZIBA, Shipbubble's 0→1 fashion marketplace, live with 500+ products and 10+ sellers across iOS, Android and web. On the core platform I cut support tickets by 50% by reworking onboarding, tracking and delivery flows for 4,000+ customers, designed an AI carrier-recommendation feature, shipped the first mobile app (2,000+ installs), and designed returns, pickup, COD and analytics flows.
Codeware · UI/UX Designer (contract)
I cut design-stage revisions by 50% by putting interactive prototypes into validation before engineering handoff. I built and maintained scalable design systems across multiple client products, ran interviews and competitive analysis, and supported QA before launch.
Sendbox · Product Designer
I redesigned the SLA monitoring dashboard for 1,000+ daily delivery transactions and cut support tickets by 55%. I designed a mobile scanner app for hub officers that cut processing time by 45%, and co-designed a responsive e-commerce platform with 500+ products, end to end from discovery to checkout.

Common questions
FAQWho is Mubarak Abubakar?
A senior product designer (UI/UX) based in Lagos, Nigeria, with 5+ years designing B2B and B2C products across logistics, fintech, e-commerce, marketplaces and AI. Currently at DREEF, previously at Shipbubble, Codeware and Sendbox.
Are you open to work?
Yes. I am looking for senior product design roles at startups and larger product companies.
Do you work remotely?
Yes. I am based in Lagos, Nigeria (GMT+1) and my hours overlap teams in Europe and on the US east coast.
Do you design for B2B or B2C?
Both. My work runs from enterprise dashboards and internal tools to consumer apps on iOS and Android.
Do you write code?
Enough to be useful. I know HTML and CSS, and I have taken two apps from Figma to production myself, so I design with the build in mind and hand off cleanly.
Which industries have you worked in?
Logistics, fintech, e-commerce, marketplaces, identity and KYC, clean-energy finance, and learning platforms.
